Done and Dusted

May 20th, 2006 by jemege

Thursday (just like Megan had said) was the night we all performed out ensemble sacs… i was so thrilled to see about 200 people show up to support all 6 groups! i was blown away by the massive enthusiasm the audience brought with them.

Like Mego said, at first it didnt feel like an examination until we all got into position on stage, and had to wait for the cue to all strike our poses… for the last time.

I must say i was really really really happy with Jemege, its was our best run and i especially loved how the audience responded, accents worked out in the end, minor line stuff ups were covered and i think i could say we did a pretty good job. Thank-you Jess and Megan for making this time so worthwhile i had so much fun with you guys!!

ALSO A HUGE congratulations to the other groups that performed. I was really impressed with the way MT. Waverley used movement in conjunction with sound, and their stage craft was brilliant. Alot of time and effort went into those stunning props… you could tell… you should be proud!

And again congratulations to the other avila groups. i was so amazed with what i saw on thursday!… well not amazed coz i knew that you guys would produce great peices of work, but moreover really proud at what everyone had accomplished!!

Went to Top Acts last night… i was in tears at one point blown away at the extreme talent that was in the theatre. IT was a truelly inspiring experience and its given me the extra “oomph” i need to help me get through with the task that is SOLO’s!!!

It’s the best feeling in the world… singing the last line in our play knowing that ITS ALL OVER!!! NO MORE EARLY MORNING REHEARSALS… but just like megan said, the consumption of cookies,  watching of braveheart and the ongoing support and philosophy of “JeMeGe shares” will never ever end.

Be proud of what you have done…. all groups!! SLACC, JABB, Kashellbee, Ceed and Stemluca! you all did a stella job!!

peace out!

much love

Oh What A Night

May 20th, 2006 by jemege

So just when i thought my computer was being nice it screws up again!!! blogging for probably the last time!!! So this thursday we had our ensemble Sac. it wasn’t as bad as i thought. All the groups had been rehearsing everyday last week which was very promising…all the girls were determined and organised!! WELL DONE EVERYONE!! Some even rehearsed thusday mroning. Thursday period 1 i painted the boxs again and listening to the GET HAPPY CD!!!!!! best thing ever!!!!!! It was mad as!! i had a ball!!! After a long day a school avila joined with the mount waverley people and we had the admin stuff and then we broke off into more rehearsals. I thought both schools were nice, co-operative and aware of other groups..giving them space and introducing themselves it was awesome hahaha! then it was dinner time we had pizza which i guess was a healthy choice!!! then it was last minute rehearsing and make up warm ups and all that jazz. It really didnt feel like we were being assesed that night..it only hit me when we actually started hhahahaa. There were sooo many people there..it was great to have that support from freinds and family an audience to work to.

The audience was great…personally i didn’t think our play was that funny but the audience seemed to love it!!! it was great!!! it made my night. I was sooo proud of jemege!!!!!!!!!! it was one of our best runs and i’m not sure about the other two but i had a blast hahhahaa. There were some mistakes but we covered them well i feel!!! WELL DONE JEMEGE!!!!! i was sooo impressed with the other groups as well!! slacc went after us and i loved their use of the projector… it was a very clever and added that extra factor to their play. Then it was jabb…i swear…i was blown away!!!!!!! all week they were worrying and fretting (ha funny word) abt emsemble but if i hadn’t known i would have sworn that they had been practicing a polished performace for months!!!!!! i was totally inpressed a big round for you guys!! u rok!!! after interval was kashelbee..they had changed their start to the play and i think it worked realli well.. The whole group was focused and i loved their use of song!!! Then it was ceed who used their stagecraft very well!!! it had an awesome affect and the books out the front was a very clever idea. And man that dude could sing!!!!!!! WELL DONE MATE!!!!! U ROK!!! And last but definitly not least was stemluca!!!!! i hadnt seen their play in full yet. I LOVED their dance bit!!! it was awesome!! the song went perfectly with the context and it looked really effective!!! well done!!! I think all the groups did a great job…actually that’s an understatement!!! U should all be proud of yourselves it was amazing!!!!!!!!

Now we just hav 2 weeks worth of sacs n drama alone WOOOOOOOO!!!! not!

Last night we saw top acts!! it was great!!!!!!!!!! there is a lot of talented people out there!!!!! seeing that has given me inspiration to start me solo but as if thats gonna happen hahahhaa but i cant wait to start. Although im a bit bummed that there will be no more jemege rehearsals and mrs. fields cookies and warms ups ARRRGH!! but not to fret!!! we shall hav a WILLIAM WALLACE DAY very soon!!!

This whole experiance has been great and one i will never forget!!!! WELL DONE TO EVERYONE ONCE AGAIN!!!!

Love meg and her crappy computer!!!

JeMeGe get happy songs.

A compilation of motivational songs used during the process of putting together the “o-so-close-ever-looming” ensembles.

Ok this needs to be explained… basically i was having a flat weekend, so naturally instead of doing methods homework… i decided to make a CD, comprised with all my most favourite songs of all time. I happend to pull out the CD during rehearsal once ages ago… and it hasnt stopped playing since… well it stops imbetween rehearsals… gah im so lame i should be locked away…

so yeah on the weekend at jess’ house… jess articulated it perfectly… REAL “productive”… what? an hour watching RAGE isnt productive… well if we hadnt watched raged we wouldnt have ever heard our new favourite song… the “download this song” song… its now apart of our motivational CD and is playing all the time. INFACT jess and megan and i are hoping that on thursday we will pump it up real loud in the drama studio and just have ONE HUGE group warm up…. lol SLACC and CEED are welcome to join too! all should embrace the good that is the motivational CD… or i like to call it… the “Get Happy CD”

OK enough about the CD and more about ensemble… performed on monday to the whole group our entire performance, went pretty well but we need to focus ALOT better… without focus i stuff up my tie and then ALL IS LOST!!! also we need to pick up our pace and shave only one minute off the entire thing… which is easily done once we’ve smoothed all the scene changes over.

This morning we went in for a rehearsal… instead we all danced around to “the emo song” and “i feel pretty” but top and tailed everything during drama to work on the scene changes.

Also as someone pointed out on monday, our syncronisation (gah i cant spell) needed to be fixed a little in our intro, so we changed the order that we speak that way we can see what the person infront of us is doing.

So two and a bit days huh?… peaking much?…. NO WAY!!! *deep gasping … begins to pull out hair… looks around awkwardly, coughs and resumes composed stance*

I wish everyone the best of luck, i hope that all goes well, everyone stays healthy, EATS BREAKFAST (thank you for the hot tip megan lol) and most importantly to get out there and give it your all… ITLL BE THE LAST TIME WE EVER HAVE TO DO THESE DANG PERFORMANCES AGAIN!!!

much love

peace out to all

esp avila and mt waverley groups who will be performing on Thursday

5 DAYS AND COUNTING…

May 13th, 2006 by jemege

Oh my golly gosh i can

t believe how close we are to the night- just quietly i’m starting to freak out a little! WHATEVER!

So we had rehearsal at my house yeterday from 9:30 til 1:30 and man is 9:30 early! I’d have to say it was probably our best rehearsal (awkward cough)! But in the end after we cleared many a plate of food and listened to about 10 motivational songs we actually got up and did 2 run throughs, trying to focus heaps on our accents. My scottish (the moose is loose about the hoose) isn’t TOO bad, but my russian is shocking! It statrs off russian then goes french, then ends a little bit black moesha- oh dear. i’m sure i’ll get it though, i just have to keep listening to the accent cd cashy lent me.

So i’m kind of glad that we’re going first on thursday cos then we get it over and done with- otherwise i’d probably freak out and run a hundred miles away from the lecture theatre and never return. I can’t believe how long it’s been since i’ve blogged- slap my wrist, but not to worry, i’m sure i’ll have a lot to writr within the next 4 days-aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrgh!

 PEACE OUT PLAYA

Oh… its NOAH this and NOAH that…

May 12th, 2006 by jemege

So since we’ve completely finished everything, we’ve done heaps of run throughs with cash watching. We’ve strengthend a lot of scenes, included better use of tableau with reguards to the 10 commandments, and narration.

We kind of hit a wall though, as on wednesday, we realised that we dont have a alternate thought for Stalin… god! dont ask me how we over looked it… however, its lucky that this was all that we really left out so we fixed it up almost instantly.

We’ve added a good connection between the theme at the end and the start of the play… sort of gives our performance a deeper meaning.

Cash worked with us late on wednesday night trying to figure out how to use tableau… we were that delerious at that stage that we were coming up with ridiculous ideas… however we did come up with the idea that we restrict the tableau ontop of our back boxes, cut out a whole lot of my dialogue (to shorten the scene and bring the time it goes for down) and also make it more Non-naturalistic. So instead of saying the whole commandment… i omit words and say “kill”…”steal”…”adultry”… while holding a placard that says “do” and “dont” numbered and coloured. Extremely non-naturalistic, i fi dont mind saying so myself.

So wednesday was the day where we ran through our old ensemble. Thursday we fixed it all up. and Today we performed to Cashy in full costume our now “nip-and-tucked” performance. Focus was really bad, well mine was, as i tied my tie wrong and it distracted me for the next few minutes in the scene waiting until the next opportunity for me to take it off and re-tie it came. We realised, as cashy pointed out too, that our performance will either be a huge hit and go really well…or be completely opposite because we have a lot of complicated techniques involved… a lot fo syncronised movement and of course the manipulation of the ties. So its really scary actually… the fact that it all can go really well… or horrible…

One thing we ahve to work on now is ironing out all the sloppy mistakes and WORKING ON ACCENTS!!! gahh no matter how hard i try my Scottish sounds Irish!!!

So homework on the weekend… tighten everything. the thing that cashy said to us today, the tighter it gets, and the better it gets, the smallest mistake will seem huge! so we have to reduce that risk of ever happening.

Fun fact: JeMeGe are performing FIRST on thursday… thoughts on this?

excited, honoured and really really really scared,

Its all real now. Only 6 days to go!

peace out!

much love

genelle

ps. Thank you so much cashy for your help, especially over the past week, all three of us really appreciate it! cheers!

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

May 9th, 2006 by jemege

Ok at me mum’s work again!!!! makes a huge difference when you can see what you’re writing!! I know i haven’t written for a while but i have my reasons lol

so most exciting news……….we finished blocking everything at 8:15am this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOO EXCITING!!! it is such a great feeling. it seemed for a while there that we were never gonna finish!!! the only problem now is the time limit. Although we haven’t timed it yet i hav the feeling that we might go over our 24 quota. i realli realli REALLI hope that we don’t have to change anything.

After al this work i hope we don’t have to scrap or change or add anything that will much up EVERYTHING that we did. but i guess if we have missed something HUGE it’s our fault and must fix it up before next thursday. which is why we want to perform our whole thing to the class tomorrow, polished or not. that way we can get feedback from teacher and mates before its too late.

Still havent got the accent, but hopefully it comes hahhaa. today in class some people were missing, so jess n i wrote out the order of the scenes, a prop and costume lists, organised our placards and the colours needed and scripted any bits that we realli needed to.

we also talked about how proud we are of everyone!!!! you’ve heard it all before so i won’t say it again but you guys are AWESOME!!!

must say a bit about one of our final scenes. the second last scene we are all being primary school children giving a report to the class about influential people in history. IT IS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! i think it was a clever way to sum up all our people and even exaggerate in some cases what they did. i hope this scene works but i guess we’ll find out tomorrow.

till next time

Now what?

May 6th, 2006 by jemege

Its pretty sad, we’ve been working so hard on this ensemble and have been making soem good process, but last drama lesson on friday, all three of us were on a flat and had no inspiration what so ever towards our ensemble.

We went over our new parts in the ensemble… from Ghandi’s interview, Moses and the 10 commandments, Stalin at a funeral, Williams death (sigh), and Stalins musical number.

It was a bit of a struggle as all these scenes are only roughly done and are no where near polished. My method is usually scripting everything, then getting up and blocking, editing, and refining. However with this ensemble, what we’ve done is start working on it scene by scene, improvising dialogue and scripting text heavy sections. The main focus for us has been the styalised movement section and trying to get the scene looking as Non-natualistic as possible.

However on Friday, We found that our motivation was lacking and we didnt get to block the final three scenes. Its fustrating coz its so close, but so far away at the same time (the end of our ensemble that is).

Oh well. Hopefully next week when moral is up with will start getting moving again.

I wish all groups the best, and the weekend will give everyone a break from a stressful week at school.

Peace out

I…feel… pretty… oh so pretty…

May 3rd, 2006 by jemege

Well just like Poor Mrs Lane commented as she was walking through the drama studio… “do you guys ever leave this place??!!”… come to think of it… i dont think we do. We were there monday night, tuesday morning and night, wednesdaylast perdiod and after school till 5:30. I think that Jemege could just hitch up a tent and stay the night… save me the effort from going home anyway.

So yeah today in drama, we werent really that focused as we were trying to perfect our Russian and Scottish accents, then we did a quick run though of what we have done. We then sat down and decided to decode our storyboard which we wrote on ANZAC day and figure out and refine our ideas. We decided we would get up and start blocking our William Death scene only to confuse us to no end. So we threw down and decided we hated ensemble lol. IT was wierd for us because everything was going so smoothly, then all of a sudden, we hit a brick wall and we had trouble coming up with new and exciting ideas, seeings though we exhausted them with the first 15-20 minutes of our performance lol. But thank goodness good old cashbag comes out with a kettle, (labled Senior Drama), a container of coffee, brown sugar and an assortment of all kinds of teas, As well as a carton of milk, and plate full of cookies (no not mrs feilds… but they did their job). Grateful for our coffee break, we discussed with the cash man ways to portray William Wallaces death in a non-naturalistic manner. After trying to explain hes ideas to us imbetween mouthfuls of coffee, we decided to get back up acting and blocked the death of our beloved William… sigh… it had to happen…we had no choice.

Yeah so then we moved onto our Stalin scene. This scene we are SOOOO pumped about… its pretty much my most favourite scene in the whole performance. We decided to include song again (lol yes stalin IS now not only the gags man… but also has alot of songs.)

we decided to have Stalin singing to the audience “I feel pretty” (so glad we have the talented singer megan for this!) while jess and i prance around with guns, and sing the ridiculous back up. Its pretty great if i dont mind saying so myself.

so yeah only three scenes left to block. Should be good. Hope we meet the deadline!

much love

peace out

genelle.

‘I wish I had a Porche’

May 2nd, 2006 by jemege

I don’t think that’s how you spell porche but i don’t actually care! So today we saw the other groups perform and despite some polishing, they are well on the way to great things. So proud to be in a class with such diverse and talented ladies!!

Yeah so… transformation of prop. An interesting topic to bring up megan, and one you appropriatly worded our thoughts on. Guess we”ll have to have a chat to cashy about that!

This morning at our before school rehearsal, we went over the two new scenes that we blocked last lesson, and blocked our next short- yet effective scene. Good stuff guys. Last lesson we also made an adjustment to one of our first scenes, by adding in the promotions and fires of the people in department two. That won’t make sense to anyone else, but jemege will know what i’m talking about.

After school we met the MWSC drama students which was exciting! Once they made their way to our brand spanking new lecture / theatre space thing, we had a quick introduction before i had to run off to my groups year 12 dance rehearsal. Soooooooooooo sorry, but it couldn’t be avoided, and as the choreographer- i couldn’t leave those 50 insane girls hanging aroung the gym any longer. I wish they hadn’t clashed because it would have been great to hear more about MWSC’s ensembles, though the red cloak/ blanket/ cacoon thing that one group was using looked really cool!

Anyway we have class tomorrow and i hope we can get some little things cleared up and then full steam ahead for the last 5 scenes or so of our ensemble. It would be wicked if jemege had the last week to refine, polish and make any slight changes. But i might just be clutching onto a fantasy with that one. OH WELL- WE’LL SEE HOW WE GO.

Lots of Love Jess xoxo

Ps Thank you Nicole for those delicious Mrs. Fields COOKIES. One day they will be the death of me!!

Tranformation of Prop!!!!!!

May 2nd, 2006 by jemege

K so I’m at my Mum’s work and i can finally read what i’m writing!!!! it’s so awesome lol well this is gonna b short

hhaa saw the other two groups perform and it was MAD!!!!! everyone’s is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo different and have had realli different approaches to the topic which i think is a greatcompliment to everyone!!! no ensemble is goin to be the same!!!! it’s realli good!!! well done guys!!!

so still havin a problem with the HEAVY boxes and the PRECIOUS new floor!!! still think Jess’s idea is the best with the tarp and all lol but it’ll work out so not stressed atm!

ok so today after the presentation of ensemble thingy mr.cash turns round and says that everyone is missing out on transformation of prop!!!!!! we are three quarters done and he’s telling us now! don’t mean it in a mean way! but i thought we covered it and other groups too!! we use our ties as microphones, guns, hanging things, whips and head scarves and we use boxes as benches, filing cabinets, pyramid block, a stand for vip, a coffin and THE RED SEA!!! if that’s not transformation of prop i don’t know what is!! other groups like stemluca for example use a ladder in sooooooooooo many ways!!! i guess i’m a bit confused by transformation of prop.

well till next time
